1st Conference and Workshop on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence

The first Conference and Workshop on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence takes place from 9 to 11 September 2026 in Astana, Kazakhstan, hosted by the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University. As an inaugural edition, it sets out to build a community around the two-way relationship between mathematical methods and machine learning.

The theme is the interplay of mathematics and AI: how mathematical tools underpin modern learning systems, and how AI in turn opens new mathematical questions. The event combines conference talks with workshop sessions, and is aimed at researchers and doctoral students working across pure and applied mathematics, statistics and machine-learning theory.
