Radiology Reimagined: AI, Innovation and Interoperability in Practice

Radiology Reimagined: AI, Innovation and Interoperability in Practice is not a standalone conference but a live, in-person demonstration mounted by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) at its annual meeting in Chicago. Running on the exhibition floor during the meeting, it shows — rather than merely discusses — how artificial intelligence can be woven into the everyday diagnostic radiology workflow using real clinical scenarios and the interoperability standards that make integration possible.

Each demonstration follows a fictional patient through a genuine clinical pathway, spanning both emergency and long-term care, and highlights the many points where AI can assist the radiologist and improve efficiency and quality. What sets it apart is the insistence on standards-based plumbing: the walkthroughs are built on profiles such as IHE AI Workflow for Imaging and AI Results, Interactive Multimedia Reporting, RadElement common data elements and HL7 FHIRcast, illustrating how AI tools, PACS, reporting systems and the EHR can be synchronised around a single study. Presented live at regular intervals across the meeting days and complemented by short noon-hour talks, it is staged collaboratively by imaging vendors, EHR providers and AI developers. For radiologists and informaticists, it offers a concrete, vendor-neutral look at AI in practice rather than in slideware. Admission is via RSNA annual-meeting registration.
