IndabaX Cameroon

📅 TBC

📍 Ngaoundéré, Cameroon

IndabaX Cameroon is the national chapter of the pan-African Deep Learning Indaba, bringing together students, researchers and practitioners for machine-learning and AI training, tutorials, posters and a hackathon. The 7th edition was held in 2026 at the University of Ngaoundéré under the theme of frugal AI innovation for resilient food systems; this is a recurring annual whose next edition is not yet confirmed.

IndabaX Cameroon is part of the Deep Learning Indaba, the African-wide community working to strengthen machine learning and AI capacity across the continent. First held in 2019, the Cameroon chapter has grown into a multi-day national gathering of practical AI/ML tutorials, research posters, a hackathon and an AI impact award, hosted at the University of Ngaoundéré.

Why it matters

The 2026 edition centred on "Frugal Innovation: Artificial Intelligence and Local Ingenuity for Resilient Food Systems and Communities", reflecting the chapter's focus on AI applications grounded in local problems. As one of the few sustained AI-community events in Central Africa, it is a key entry point for early-career researchers and students in the region.

Listed as a watchlist (recurring annual) entry: the 2026 dates have passed and the next edition has not yet been announced. Verify the official site for the next confirmed dates before promoting.
