ICDAR is the premier venue for document analysis and recognition - handwriting and text recognition, layout analysis, scene text, and now multimodal LLMs and foundation models for documents. The 21st edition is in Kuala Lumpur in August 2027, with an abstract deadline of 31 January 2027 and full papers due 20 February 2027.

The International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR) is the flagship scientific venue for document analysis, recognition and understanding, run under the IAPR umbrella. Its scope runs from classic handwriting and text recognition, layout analysis and scene-text detection to the current wave of foundation models, multimodal LLMs and document-reasoning agents. The 21st edition is held as an in-person event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 18-22 August 2027.

Conference papers are up to 17 pages in Springer LNCS format and reviewed double-blind with a rebuttal phase. The abstract deadline is 31 January 2027 and the full-paper deadline is 20 February 2027 (both strict, AoE), with acceptance notifications 15 May 2027. A separate ICDAR-IJDAR journal track also runs.

Proceedings are published in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
