ICDAR 2026: International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition
📅 Sunday, 30 August 2026 → Friday, 4 September 2026 in 40 days
ICDAR 2026 — the 20th International Conference on Document Analysis & Recognition, Vienna, 30 Aug–4 Sep.
ICDAR 2026, the 20th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition, comes to Vienna for the first time, 30 August–4 September 2026 (tutorials 30 Aug, main conference 31 Aug–2 Sep, workshops 3–4 Sep). It is the premier international event for document analysis and recognition, expecting 500+ participants.
What you gain & who's behind it
ICDAR covers everything from OCR and handwriting recognition to document understanding, layout analysis and historical-document digitisation, with keynotes, main-track sessions, panels, posters, competitions and workshops. It is chaired by Robert Sablatnig and Florian Kleber of TU Wien, anchoring it in a strong local computer-vision group.
Where it fits
Document AI is having a moment: vision-language models now read forms, contracts and scans, and ICDAR is the community that has worked on exactly these problems for three decades. As the world digitises its paper and its archives, this is where the methods — and the benchmarks that keep them honest — are set.
