EPIA 2026 is the 25th edition of the EPIA Conference on Artificial Intelligence, a long-running event held under the patronage of the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA). It takes place from 2-4 September 2026 at the University of Madeira, in the historic Colegio dos Jesuitas do Funchal on the Atlantic island of Madeira.
The conference promotes research across all areas of AI, both theoretical and applied, organised into thematic tracks proposed by the community. It provides a forum for scientific exchange among researchers, engineers and practitioners, and runs an associated student symposium. The Madeira setting makes it a rare direct-AI conference in Macaronesia rather than on the European mainland.
The paper submission deadline (29 May 2026, AoE, strict) has passed, so this is now an attendance and networking opportunity: paper-acceptance notifications are due 12 July 2026 and camera-ready papers 25 July 2026, ahead of the September conference. Registration is open via the official site.
