Energy HPC & AI Conference

Hosted annually by Rice University's Ken Kennedy Institute, the Energy HPC & AI Conference returns to Houston for its 20th edition over 23–25 February 2027 at the BioScience Research Collaborative. Tracing its roots to the 2008 Rice Oil and Gas HPC Workshop and renamed in 2026 to foreground AI, it is the energy sector's established meeting point for high-performance computing, computational science and engineering, machine learning and data science. Attendees come from energy companies, academia, national laboratories and the IT industry to take the pulse of where advanced computing meets energy innovation.

The format mixes invited talks, a technical programme, birds-of-a-feather sessions, an exhibit hall, poster presentations, networking receptions and post-conference workshops, giving practitioners both depth and connection. The organising committee draws on engineers and researchers from operators and technology firms including TotalEnergies, Chevron, Shell, ExxonMobil, bp, SLB, NVIDIA, Intel and AMD, alongside Rice faculty and national-lab staff.
