The 1st CTU Caribbean Artificial Intelligence Forum (CAIF 2026) is the flagship regional AI event organised by the Caribbean Telecommunications Union, held in person on 23-24 July 2026 at the Hilton Trinidad Conference Centre in Trinidad and Tobago. Its theme is 'AI for Caribbean Transformation: Governance, Innovation and Resilience for a Shared Digital Future.'

The forum launches the Final Report of the Caribbean AI Task Force, which CTU established in 2025 to guide ethical, inclusive and responsible AI across the region. The two-day agenda is organised around five pillars: human-centric and rights-based AI; inclusivity, equity and sustainable development; data sovereignty, governance and security; regional AI development cooperation; and resilient innovation. Dedicated women and youth sessions and an open-microphone session round out the programme.

This is a policy and governance forum rather than an academic paper conference, which makes it valuable for understanding how small island developing states are shaping AI rules, capacity and data sovereignty instead of importing systems wholesale. It is intended as the first edition of a recurring regional platform. Registration is via the official CTU event page.
