A free three-week AI training program designed for charity professionals to build confidence in using AI, led by Media Trust with support from the Centre for Public Impact and Google AI Opportunity Fund: Europe.
The AI Essentials Bootcamp for Charities is a free, three-week online training programme run by Media Trust in partnership with NCVO, with support from the Centre for Public Impact and the Google AI Opportunity Fund: Europe. It is built specifically for charity professionals, aiming to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to use AI in ways that maximise an organisation's impact. The course is exclusively available to NCVO charity members, with priority given to small, user-led charities, and limited places per cohort. The next intake's first session is noted as Wednesday 8 October.
Delivered live on Zoom with two workshops a week plus around two hours of independent eLearning weekly, the programme asks for roughly 15 hours over three weeks. The curriculum, designed by Google, runs across five modules: an introduction to AI and generative AI; using AI tools to boost productivity; prompt engineering; using AI responsibly, including bias and an AI-harms framework; and staying ahead of emerging AI trends. Much of the content centres on Google's products such as Gemini, and participants receive a Google certificate on completion. Aimed at leaders and decision-makers with little or no prior AI experience, it is a practical, capacity-building course rather than a conference — well suited to smaller organisations taking their first confident steps with AI.
